Athens has a little bit of everything. I like the beat vibe of center mixed with the boutiques, bars and coffee places. The fleamarket is great with lots of character (10 times better than Camden and Portobello market to be honest!). Nightlife is second to none. From Syntagma square, 30 minutes to the north you are in the suburbs (Kifisia, Ekali) and the mountains (Parnitha). 30 minutes to the south you are by the sea. 1h away is the Argosaronic Gulf islands. Yes, Athens is rough around the edges but this is what makes it so interesting. That said, a bit of tidying up would help.

Going to Athens next year and planning a day starting early at the Acropolis but was wondering which entrance is best as I've heard there's one that's only for largish tour groups and opens later so we want to avoid it.

I am late to the party, having found you only about 4 hours ago. Trying to catch up and decided to be methodical, so started in Dubrovnik having already watched London, Edinburgh, Glasgow and Paris. But, if you go this far back for questions: How much did you pay for the Greek Salad? I have heard that you don’t ask for a Greek Salad in Greece. It is said that if they fix one (because you ordered it. I believe I heard €7~€8 for a Greek Salad. I would almost worry that if I didn’t verify, the Salad they bring may be just lettuce and a couple of slices of onion. Nice video (s)!

I like your vibe and used your info on my recent trip 2 weeks ago to Athens/ Santorini… Good amount of useful info for food/ culture/ history without being annoying, obnoxious or superficial… total down to earth and super relatable. LOVED you feeding the cats/ dogs, we did too… the cats and dogs are a communal feeding responsibility by the locals. Pretty amazing country! Thanks for great video.

1 tip – a quick reference to transportation is very useful (airport, locally, ease & prices)

Also great spot in Athens: Anafiotika – better to do in morning/ afternoon, its a little isolated but gorgeous.

Hold on to your wallet when you get in and out of a subway. That's when they make an attempt to pick your pocket. Don't put your wallet in your back pocket. They know Tourists have cash.
