What was the name of the business that drives people down to the Cape Peninsula in a side car? Did they only take you down there to the Cape of Good Hope or did they bring you back and let you stop off at Boulder Beach/Bay?

I now live in Johannesburg, but CT remains my favourite city. I used to live in a men's hostel right next to the District Six Museum. Miss Buitenkant and Roeland Streets and the food at Eastern Food Bazzar

I usually just skip pass any content about CPT as it never reflects the the real deal. For some reason your blog popped up and I decided to give it a shot simply due to curiosity, and I'll be dammed!! You guys nailed it close to perfect. I'm from CPT and I work in the heart of the CBD just 2 traffic lights from the Bo Kaap. From a Capetonian I must say well done guys.

I really love visiting CT , I think the most difficult thing about it is pronouncing the ''oo'' in the words , Boomslang ,Kloof straat , and Bebootie . Just ask someone what the word for ''eyes'' is in Afrikaans and that is the way to pronounce it
being Afrikaans it is really funny to think there are no example in english to get the sound of the "oo" You will have to watch an Afrikaans video to get the sound calibrated , ha-ha Thanks for the video can't wait to go back there after the pandemic

Try Woodstock neighborhood, a hip part of town with fancy restaurants, graffiti and amazing craft breweries (drifter is my favourite). De waterkant neighborhood is also pretty, it's like bo-kaap, but a bit more fashionable (the blue mosque is very pretty). There are many rooftop bars aswell in that area, with pool and a view of Table mountain.

  6. Guido Brits says:

A point of error. Malay as in Cape Malay has nothing to do with Malasia. Another point of error: the castle was not built as tensions rose between the Dutch and the British. The castle was first a fort built to protect the vrijburger community against the Khoi. The British only arrived about 100 years after the castle was completed. Also, whatever happens at the castle has nothing to do with the firing of the historical canon on signal hill if that is the one you guys are referring to.

  7. Gregory de Sleskine says:

“In the Central Business District and specifically Long Street, criminals exploit the fact that it is a very busy area frequented by both locals and tourists. The type of crimes prevalent in this area include mugging, pickpocketing, robbery, ATM scams and theft out of motor vehicles,” said Smith.

Noloyiso Rwexana spokesperson for SAPS said, “There are several common robbery cases opened for investigation at Cape Town police station and in most of the cases, victims are being pickpocketed by suspects while they walk in Long Street and surrounding areas.

"The criminals normally target the victims by pretending to be fighting and pickpocket those who seem unaware and under the influence of alcohol.”

Smith added that although the role of organized crime and the accompanying protection rackets is well documented, the situation is further aggravated due to the overcrowding of parolees in prisons. Many parolees are being released because of the overcrowding and don’t return to their communities then end up infiltrating street people and committing theft.

Ward Councillor in the City Bowl, Dave Bryant said that pickpocketing is usually carried out by small groups in Long Street during early morning and late at night. “They often work together to create a distraction while items are pickpocketed,” said Bryant.

“Individuals should remain vigilant late at night and early in the mornings and look after their valuables, specifically cell phones. We would ideally like to have increased numbers of security staff present during these times and a motivation for this has been made to the executive director of safety and security and SAPS,” said Bryant.

Very good choice…, but NO ONE IN THE WESTERN CAPE EATS A GATSBY WITH ANYTHING ELSE BUT THEIR HANDS. As it's a messy affair… and its a take away. But good on your for trying one of the WC's iconic foods 👍🏽👍🏽
