Amazon has purchased its first fleet of plane, because the know-how big expands its rising air freight community.
The corporate bought 11 Boeing 767-300 planes from airways Delta and WestJet.
Beforehand, Amazon had relied on leased plane to fulfil its logistical wants.
An announcement defined the brand new planes would “assist Amazon’s rising buyer base”.
Plane costs have plummeted over the previous yr as journey demand diminished amid various international lockdowns.
“Our objective is to proceed delivering for purchasers throughout the US in the way in which that they count on from Amazon, and buying our personal plane is a pure subsequent step towards that objective,” mentioned Sarah Rhoads, vp of Amazon International Air.
“Having a mixture of each leased and owned plane in our rising fleet permits us to higher handle our operations, which in flip helps us to maintain tempo in assembly our buyer guarantees.”
